I can NOT wait for our county fair to start!! I know it’s nothing like the ISF, but still. The biggest thing I’m looking forward to is OM NOM NOMMING on some elephant ears.
Oh, I love the picture of the two girls from the back. So sweet! I love the fair, too. We went to a farm that was having a 4H fair while we were in DC. I had a freshly fried donut and we all shared a funnel cake. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
We’re going to the state fair next Friday. I can’t wait! I just hope the weather is nice. It is such a great time of year. The corndogs and roasted corn and watching the kids eyes light up. It is so great.
Hurray for pony rides! I am trying to arrange to take my kids there next week. It’s a big part of my youth, and I really want the kids to see “my” fair!
I can not wait for the fair to start here. Funnel cake, snow cones, and every possible bbq combo you can think of..YUM! September can’t come fast enough.
Did you go yesterday? We spent 11 (yes, I said ELEVEN) hours there yesterday. I was the one yelling “Red Light!!” at two 4-yr-olds tearing through the Expo Hall like it was Show Biz…But it was still a GREAT day!.
Those funnel cakes look AMAZING!

@AmazingGreis, They had been sitting out all day, let’s just say I’m a pretty good at photographing old things to make them look, uh, “younger.”

Funny you should have fair funnel cake, because dude, I learned how to make funnel cake at home yesterday. And now I weigh 3000 pounds.
But there are no ponies here, so I guess the fair still has some allure.
I have to ask, did you have the chocolate bacon? Because I do not understand how that can be edible, please enlighten.
LikeLike
@Overflowing Brain (Katie), The chocolate covered bacon will be tried. After all the grease from the funnel cake makes it out of my pores.

I could look at your photography all day. I really love the vintage style of these shots! They fit in so well with the state fair theme.

@Camels & Chocolate, Thank you! I know it’s not “true” photography, but sometimes it just fits.

Doesn’t matter. I’d eat it.

@Melissa Weisbard, Corn. Yes. Fair corn probably makes all the other corn feel inadequate.

@Just Shireen, Yes. Society. It’s set up right next to the fried Pepsi and fried Zoloft.
I mean, well, at least Pepsi.

I love that last picture of the funnel cakes the best. It looks awesome. Definitely raises some nostalgia and hunger issues.

@Ami, Would it help the hunger issues if I told you they had been out in the sun all day? And were kind of slimy and crusty?

Beautiful photos as always. Looking forward to seeing more from the day. Did you lug around a tripod this year?
LikeLike
@Rick, Tripod comes with me next week when I can go by myself and do night shots. I’m oddly excited about the prospect.
LikeLike
@Casey, I hear that bit about going it alone, tripod and family don’t easily mix in crowded settings.
