one of my biggest fears? deep water.

Cody: You wouldn’t stay there!?

Me: NO! NO NO NON ON ONONONOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONO. NO.

Cody: But…

Me: NO.

Cody: There’s a water slide!

Me: Through SHARKS. A water slide THROUGH SHARKS.

Cody: You wouldn’t ride that?

Me: NO! WHAT IF IT EXPLODED!

Cody: If that tube exploded I would grab a shard of glass, kill all the sharks and ride a whale to victory.

Could you stay here? (Minus the whole Dubai oil blood money middle of the Middle East $2,000 a night…thing.)

  1. The Golden Nugget in Las Vegas has a slide just like that! I went down it, but you are going too fast to even notice the stuff around you. What IS trippy is the fact that there is only about 3 inches of glass between you and the sharks in the pool. You can put your face up to the glass and swim next to the sharks. Creeeeeeeeepy

  2. I should have known better than to read this at night. Sharks have been a nightmare spawn since I saw Jaws on laserdisc as a preschooler. I will be too afraid to pee tonight. There could be sharks in the toilet.

    1. @mamikaze, You and me both sister. You and me both. Waking up to them LOOKING AT ME? Or sleeping next to them IN THE DARK?
There are better ways to die from anxiety. Like waiting for Ryan Gosling to kiss you.

  3. The Atlantis Hotel in nassau, bahamas also has a slide. My husband went, I did not… not because of the sharks but because I am not a fan of really fast water slides where I am not on a raft.

  4. I’d be more afraid of the sting rays stabbing me in the heart and then I’d be dead and unable to convince my daughters not to make terrible films that involve dolphins.
    And now I can’t sleep.

  5. There is no frigging way I could sleep there. So I guess I’m lucky that I can’t afford it, right?
I mean, seriously? All those fishy, watery creatures staring at me all night with their dead eyes? NO WAY!

  6. I hope “ride a whale to victory” becomes the new “I’m goin’ to Disney World.”

I’ve been thinking about the slide for at least 5 minutes, and I think my decision is: Yes. I would ride that slide. I’m terrified of heights, but I think you wouldn’t be able to see how high it was, maybe, because of the water. I’m also a little claustrophobic, though, so maybe the surrounded-by-water thing would be a problem. Which is why it’s taken me 5 minutes to decide. And now I’m back to “I don’t know.” Probably I’d say “Yes, I will do it!” and then I’d go back to my posh room and take another nap instead.

  7. We went to the Atlantis in the Bahamas and my husband and son both went on that slide. They said you go so fast you couldn’t see the sharks. But, yeah. Not for me.

  8. I didn’t know that place existed – I’d LOVE to stay there. Then again, I’m the girl who has scuba dived with sharks & did the cage dive with great whites in South Africa. Amazing!

  9. I’m on your side. I don’t even really like going to the aquarium where you walk through the tube things or in front of the big shark tank. Anytime I go I try to look at it from angles to see exactly how thick that glass is. I watch Shark Week, I’m not naive to this.

  11. I think you’re crazy, I WOULD LOVE to go to the Atlantis!

I also love your husbands plans with the sharks and whales. How can you be worried with a plan like that?
