I wasn’t going to go out into the city to take pictures.

But someone commented how my aura changed when I had my camera in my hands.

I then realized when I had my camera in my hands outside I didn’t feel sick.

I felt happy.

So I took pictures.

It’s funny to think how many times that camera has saved me.

  1. I totally love the post card complete with “That city’s the shit, ya’ll.” Do you think I could get my hands on one of those? I have a little thing where I send a random postcard every now and again to one of my besties in Utah.

  2. These are beautiful, just as you are. It was SO WONDERFUL to spend time together, eat breakfast, and just be silly with you and Jess. It hurts my heart to look outside at this dreary weather today (and yesterday) not having taken any pictures myself of this beautiful town.

I hope you’re feeling well today (and everyday). I promise, I will look for what it was we talked about. 🙂

  3. Wonderful photos! I think you most definitely captured the essence of the city. I think my favorite is the one with the rocking chairs. Makes me think of the chairs on my grandmother’s porch….

  4. HOLY FREAKING CRAP, WOMAN!!!!! Dude, I haven’t kept up on reading your blog lately, and I come back and you’re all knocked up and everything! Awesome!!! Seriously, so fantastic! I’ve been waiting for ages to come back to your blog and see some (specifically this) good news, and it’s finally happened. I’m so so so so glad for you.

Ahem, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, these pictures are awesome! Asheville is probably a place that I should have visited many times because I have family there, but I’ve never been. Your pictures make me want to go.

  5. Beautiful photos! Makes me even sadder that I didn’t get there. (grumble grumble stupid respiratory issues grumble grumble)

I am glad that you don’t feel sick when your camera is in your hands, I for see a lot of outside picture taking in your future.

  7. If I rub my head against yours really hard will some of your photo knowledge seep into my head? Because I love your photos. Consistently awesome. Like YOU Casey.

  8. Oh and when I say “really hard” I mean like “the way you rub a balloon on your head to make it stick to a wall”

cuz I don’t want to maul you or anything. Just to clarify.

  9. These pictures make me want to go to Asheville…or move there! And I can only dream of having the talent you do in photography. You are an incredible photographer, Casey! And I’m praying you avoid the BAD sickness…I already went through it for you, k? So you’re good to go! Just some minor, normal pregnancy pukies and you’re done. I said it, so it shall be 🙂

  10. You did a beautiful job. I’m particularly drawn to that cabbage/lettuce picture. The texture and details there are amazing. Capturing the sharp edges of leaves and petals can be a pain sometimes. 🙂

I’m glad your camera makes you feel better!

And the pictures are gorgeous. I love being behind my lens as well – it always makes me happy, somehow, some way.

  13. I love seeing Asheville through your eyes. You’re awesome and inspiring.

You were looking a little green at Type-A. I hope it subsides and your aura can be happy even when you don’t have your camera in your hands.
