I was on the phone with my cousin Cassie back in July as my Aunt Cheryl was lying in a hospital bed dying.

The last thing Cassie told Cheryl while I was on the phone was “When you get up there, can you see about getting Casey and me our babies? Casey wants a boy.

I of course shouted through the phone from Indiana, “GIRL! SEND GIRL BABIES!

Cassie corrected herself and Cheryl laughed. She was gone an hour later.

I know whoever comes to our family this spring will have been picked, primed and prepared up in heaven by my Aunt Cheryl.

Aunt Cheryl before her accident.

I miss her so much.

  1. I cannot WAIT to watch you go through this whole journey as you share this with us. I can only hope someday I get to share a journey like this as well. Maybe someday.

I can’t wait to see who your lovely Aunt Cheryl picked for you!

  2. Yes. I love this. My dad passed away before I had my kids. When the time came I really wanted a little boy (I already had stepdaughters). I got a little boy (and a bonus adorable little girl – yay twins!) that looks so much like my Dad it’s not even funny.

  3. Your Aunt was definitely paying attention and had a hand in your baby.
My father unexpectedly passed away and I am now pregnant with twins. I know he chose these babies for our family.

  4. Dude, you totally just gave me goosebumps! And I bet you get a boy… just because it sounds like your Aunt might have had a slight bit of an ornery side like that! πŸ˜‰

  5. When we received the photo of our son from our adoption agency one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me was “your mom (who died 9 months before he was born) was looking out for you.” It took some of the sting out of the fact that she never met him on this earth.

  6. Oh Casey, this made me tear up. We know my grandfather had his hands all over the sons that we’re adopting. It’s amazing how the pieces add up and you can see the hands of loved ones from heaven guiding your path.

I can’t wait to see who your Aunt sends to your family.

  7. I feel that Eddie was chosen by his Papa. He looks just like him. And I just get the feeling he KNOWS his Papa.

I love this feeling. I am sure Aunt Cheryl has picked you the perfect fit for your family. And since it seems she has a sense of humor? I am guessing it’s a boy.
