“What’s your name?”
“Hadley.”
“Oh! I like your name.”
“Thanks. No one has ever really liked my name before. Everyone makes fun of my last name.”
“They do? I’d never make fun your name.”
“Thanks. You wanna play?”
“Yeah!”

I told you on the way home how proud I was of you. I’m writing it here because I don’t ever want to forget.
But the truth is there’s no words for how I felt as I watched you and your new friend Hadley at the library. You didn’t know I was listening, so I know you weren’t saying it to appease me.
You said it because that’s who you are.
Amazing.
LOVE THAT! It’s amazing how the innocence and purity of our children can turn out to be such a gift, to others and to us.

Addie sounds like she will be a true blue friend to some really lucky girls in the future. She’s a lot like her mom like that.

Not saying it to appease you but I can’t yell loudly enough to even be subtly not-quite-out-of-earshot…she’s yours. Wow is she ever.

if my baby Hadley gets made fun of and can’t find friends, I’m sending her to Addie for positive reinforcement.

I love those moments. THOSE are the moments when I can put aside thoughts of tantrums and thoughts of “am I doing this parenting thing right?” and know that my kids are gonna be okay, that they already are.
Well done, mom.

Love love love. We need SO many more good people in this world. You are one of them, and you are such a great example to your daughter too. She is already adding so much good to this world, and her amazing personality here proves that.

Proof that there is still innocence and beauty in childhood. I’ve been reading too many negative news stories lately. Give your kid a hug for me, and give yourself a pat on the back for doing such a great job raising her.
