  1. So sorry you are feeling so sick and that NOTHING is helping. That is so frustrating. You would think with all the drugs out there something would help.
I got a weird chest rash while pregnant with my little one. It was very strange. I used the Benadryl cream and it helped a lot especially with the itching. Using the cream would be a way to get rid of one pill too! Feel better SOON!

  2. Hahaha, you made me smile here. Not that you’re sick, but at your sense of humor. At least you’ve still got it. 🙂 I’ve been reading for a while and haven’t commented yet, so just wanted to say Hi and hope you feel better. I’m glad you didn’t take that wad of pills – I was a bit worried and horrified at first when I saw them all together, haha. Water can do so much good for you, so good plan.

Speaking of water, take this idea as you will, because some people find it absolutely absurd, and some people find it lovely (I’m in that camp), but… have you ever heard/tried a neti pot? I have a lot of sinus issues and use one every day, and it’s especially helpful when I have congestion like you do. Just thought I’d throw it out there for ya. 🙂

  3. Aw Casey. Sorry you’re sick.

I’m surprised nobody told you to pour water in one nostril and out the other with one of those yoga neti pot thngies. I’m not telling you to do this, because I don’t want to get kicked. But I heard it works for sinus infections. Repeat: I’m not telling you to. But…

I’m glad your mom could help, though!

    XO to Addie. And you.

    Molly

The worst big horse pills are calcium, which I need at my advanced age. They are big and
basically are big, white, capsule-shaped rocks.

    1. @Molly,
Haha I don’t think so Molly. Don’t think I’ve stepped into a Hallmark in about a year. But great minds apparently are thinking alike with the netipots – there are 13 posts on here now and look at all the suggestions for it!

Oh how i love my neti pot. Except for the surprise drains I randomly get sometimes hours later or the next day after bending over, haha. Those are crazy.

  4. GIRL. Buy yourself a NeilMed Sinus Rinse and screw the pharmaceuticals. (Not a fan. Blame it on the 9 years I spent as a pharmaceutical rep. Sue me.)

    Do it now. RUN.

  5. p.s. – The NeilMed Sinus Rinse is wayyyyy easier to use than a Neti Pot, but achieves the same result. I threw away my Neti Pot once I started using the NeilMed.

  6. Yay, your vlogging made me smile! I’m home sick today with either a stomach/colon bug or something I ate didn’t agree with me. I bought the Afrin saline rinse and it worked to clear out the snot last time I had it. But it’s kinda icky and I couldn’t get it to go all the way through. Oh, and it doesn’t help pukey and poopey issues. 😦 Feel better and get sleep (HA, sleep when you can’t breathe; I’m funny!)

  7. That was so fun seeing and hearing you in real life as apposed to in my head. I have a suggestion. Only take the pills you were taking before you got sick. If I understood you correctly, that would be your happy pill, flinstone and fish one. Forget the rest, they aren’t working anyway. Ok maybe the benedril cuz of the rash but I think something you took gave that to you. Get sleep, take a hot bath, drink orange juice, gatorade and lots of water. Chicken soup probably wouldn’t hurt either. Do you want me to call in the RS for some dinners? 🙂 Feel better!

  8. Please don’t take all the sudafed pills at once. Your heart will think your sprinting.

As a nurse practitioner and snot expert, I agree with the saline nose rinsing. My neti pot is my best friend.

  9. Wow. I was just going to shout “NETIPOT!” but your readers are all on top of it.

So I will just say, THUMBS UP on rocking the COLTS shirt in Nashville. Championapolis.

  10. I can relate to taking a billion pills a day, including the fish oil which regularly stimulates my gag reflex! Just recently found some omega-3 gel at Vitamin World which is tolerable (better cold). Excited about that. Get better!

  11. Ah I’m sorry, that was funny. Have you seen a doc yet? I just got over the flu, so I suggest nyquil, heating blanket, lots of movies. 🙂

  12. You’re doing it all wrong. You take all those pills and throw them in a blender. Add a quart (maybe 4, depending on your symptoms) of your favorite ice cream. Blend. EAT! For a better tasting treat, remove the pills and just eat a gallon of ice cream.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  13. Sorry you don’t feel well. The sick is going around. I have it (but have managed to only have to take 4 pills, 4x a day), and all 3 of my kids have it. It is NOT FUN. Hope we ALL feel better soon.

  14. Um. That’s a lot of pills. My throat hurts now. Okay not really. I take a handful every day too between prenatals, PCOS, thyroid, crazy pills etc. I hope you feel better soon!

  15. My mom swears by the neti pot. I can’t do it ’cause I feel like it is drowning me… something about the water in my sinuses causes the “flight or fight reaction” and I freak out a bit. Good luck with that if you try it!! Get well soon. 🙂

  16. Ditto on the Neti pot –

I swear I got the same bug in Nashville – NONE of the usual sniffling/sneezing/coughing/aching/put-you-in-a-coma-so-you-can-sleep remedies even touched it. 3 boxes of tissues later, I can MOSTLY breathe now…

  17. I thought I heard a weird noise today…must have been all the pills rattling around in your stomach!

My only suggestion: Florida. I’m over this winter. My family has been sick for a solid month, and we’re just gross. We just need warmth and beaches.

  18. 🙂 You’re funny girl, even when you’re sick 🙂
I’d say kick the pills, stick to lots of water and tea and let it run it’s course. In a week or so you should be as good as new. Feel better!

  19. Ah, balls. I hate being sick (we’ve been sick FOREVER over here) and it just sucks. I’m sorry that you’re sick. 😦 And isn’t it especially difficult to swallow pills when your nose is clogged? The vacuum/swallow/breathing apparatus is all messed up.

  20. Wow, you look good even with a snot nose and congestion!! I will not allow any of you to see me when I’m sick, because it’s not pretty.

I wish I had some advice, but I don’t. I do suggest a lot of sleep though.

    Hope you feel better soon!

    XOXO

  21. I would go to the dr. 🙂

I also agree with what many people suggested to stop taking all the “extra” stuff.

    That’s just my 2 cents!

    Feel better soon!

  22. I’m sick too, and my magic combo has been a neti pot, raspberry emergen-c, my anti-crazy pills, and dayquil. And sleep. hours and hours of not-going-to-class-or-work sleep.

  23. Hi there,
I have been following your blogs for awhile and was wondering where you have been. I am so sorry to hear that you are sick. If I lived closer to you (I live in Bloomington), I would bring soup, but that might be weird and stalkerish of me since we have never met. I second (or fifteen?) the idea of the neti pot – it will be your new best friend. No more pills except for the regulars – they are not working. Feel better soon – we all miss you out here in internet-land.

  24. You’re sick, and yet your hair still looks gorgeous. My doctor just informed me that I may have hypotension. Which, if the Mayo website is to be trusted LOL, I am headed for compression knee highs. Oh snap, now that’s HOT!

  25. Given that I’m a doctor and all, here is my advice because you clearly haven’t gotten enough. Your body would spend so much energy trying to process all of those pills that it wouldn’t have enough left over just to help you get better. Which is the whole point anyway.

If you’re going to take anything, you might as well make it something that leaves you delightfully delirious (may I recommend Klonopin?) like a true a member of your in-laws family. It’s the only way to go.

  26. I hate taking big pills almost as much as I hate taking liquid medication, so don’t worry — I’m not suggesting anything else for you.

How am I? I have a huge, swollen eyelid. And worse than that, I can’t wear my contacts right now. I will not be asking the internet for any advice, though. I don’t want any pills.

  27. I was sick with that last week. My sinus thing had turned into a bad upper respiratory infection. Don’t want to tell you what to do, but maybe go to the doc! 😀

  28. poor girlie, I am so sorry that you are feeling icky. I swear by mucinex & lots of hot showers. I also had an awful sinus thing when I got home as well, I think I didn’t transition well when I got home, but maybe while we were sleeping the hotel sprinkled some stuff on us and it makes us sick when we aren’t at Opryland, its a sign, we must go back….I’ll drive.

  29. I have been soooo sick since Blissdom, too. I wake up every morning thinking “I actually feel decent” and then I open my eyes and sit up and CAN’T BREATH and CAN’T STOP COUGHING and CAN’T HEAR and want to die…

It’s been hell. I’m sorry you’re stuck being sick, too. I feel your pain. 😦

(Also? The sudafed and such has also done NOTHING for me… only nasal spray gives me a few minutes of breathing time.)

    and clean!

You still look beautiful! Have you lost weight? You look so skinny! Love you my dear!
