(Okay, so technically now it’s my 26th birthday, the 28th. But since I was born at 12:21 am I didn’t want to miss a moment of my own party, even while I slept. As you were.)
Birthdays are a really big deal to me.
Anybody want to make me my birthday cake?

Didn’t think so.
For some reason nobody really wants to attempt making my birthday cake. It’s cool. I was planning on having a huge pile of donuts anyway. I may even stick candles in them.
But you know what I really want for my birthday? A comment cake. Layers and layers of comments from you. I want you to tell me the best thing that happened to you in the last week. Anything, everything. The best. I love it when you guys do that. It makes me happy. And I want to be happy on my birthday. So you know what to do.

Good things … I had a fabulous romantic dinner with my husband on our third anniversary: 25 April. My daughter slept in her big girl bed. All night. Without falling out. My brand new mortgage just dropped down to 5.16% for five years. My mom gave me a compliment. Hooooooray!

Best thing in the last week.
It was my birthday too. A big 36, over the hump my sister pointed out. Like getting older is an awful thing. Silly girl.
We were able to get a babysitter and go for dinner. Dinner out, without the children, actually talking to each other without having to ask someone to sit on their bum, cut anyones food, remind them to use their manners, ask them to sit on their bum…did I say that, remind them not to blow bubbles in their drinks and too use their indoor voice.
My 2 1/2 yr old also figured out how to use the pedals on the tricycle yesterday. That made my day.

Listen, I’m not going to lie. Even if I lived closer I wouldn’t make you a cake. I’m too intimidated by your mad baking skills. But I would bring something non-edible- like flowers or balloons.
The best thing about the week? My cell phone works after a dip in the toilet. Yummy. I’m hungry just thinking about it.

If you didn’t live halfway across the country, I’d make you a cake. And frost it really nicely, too. The best thing that happened to me this week was that I invited to have lunch with Addison Road by the lead singer, Jenny. We’ve connected a little bit through her blog, and it was awesome to meet her in person and hang out with her for a couple hours.

As for the best thing that happened to me this week? We went for a glorious camping trip that turned into an adventure I’d rather not have had, but it also gave me the understanding that when things go completely batshit insane around me? I can still keep my head and be a nurse when I need to be.

The best thing that happened to me this past week was probably being able to recreate a craft that my great grandmother had made. It just made me feel good to think about my great grandmother in a way I could relate, even though she’s gone now. Wow, it really wasn’t as sad as that sounds!

The best thing that happened to me this past week was the whole day Friday. The weather was beautiful, I took a bike ride through Eagle Creek Park with a friend, went to Metropolis in Plainfield, and went to an Indians game. It was a perfect day. I hope today is a perfect day for you!
