Hi. It’s my 26th birthday.

(Okay, so technically now it’s my 26th birthday, the 28th. But since I was born at 12:21 am I didn’t want to miss a moment of my own party, even while I slept. As you were.)

Birthdays are a really big deal to me.

Anybody want to make me my birthday cake?

Anyone?

No?

Really?

Didn’t think so.

For some reason nobody really wants to attempt making my birthday cake. It’s cool. I was planning on having a huge pile of donuts anyway. I may even stick candles in them.

But you know what I really want for my birthday? A comment cake. Layers and layers of comments from you. I want you to tell me the best thing that happened to you in the last week. Anything, everything. The best. I love it when you guys do that. It makes me happy. And I want to be happy on my birthday. So you know what to do.

Delurk you lurkers, save yourself a phone call IRL friends, let’s party. (Oh, and wish her a Happy Birthday too.)

Make this the best comment cake ever so that I don’t have to eat all those donuts, because you know I will.

  2. Happy Birthday!

    Best thing to happen this week was The Man finally hooked up our old, old computer and I was able to transfer over all our pictures from 2000-2004. My kids were born in ’00 and ’02, so being able to browse through old photos and video snippets was completely awesome. Best three hours of my evening I’ve spent in a while.

  4. Happy Birthday Casey!!! Birthdays really are the greatest and I hope you have a very, very happy one. I would make you a cake but I’m a crap cook and I live too far away.

    The best thing that happened to me this week is that I made Maddie laugh for the first time today! It made me feel so lucky that even with all she has going on she’s still a happy little baby!

  5. Happy Birthday! This is the first time I’ve posted on your blog, just for your birthday!

    Hmmm. I got a $100 check in the mail from the hospital. It was the co-pay they had me pay for my ultrasound and they sent it back unexpectedly. I got to see many good friends this week. I got the crib put together and our room rearranged. It’s been a good week.

    I made cake for you…and had a party!! I actually made 2 cakes for my husband’s birthday yesterday and we had 24 family and friends over for tea. So even though I didn’t know it was your birthday, we have extra cake. Shame I live in Australia 😉

  9. Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday!

    Best thing that happened this week? It came from something sad.

    Last December, a friend of mine lost a baby girl due to anencephaly. I decided to walk in her memory in the March for Babies Walk this year. So I got a team together. And I told her about it. And she got a team together in Lafayette. Their walk was Saturday as well.

    Back in February, HER friend from high school lost identical twin boys at 19 weeks. And they started a team. They walked yesterday.

    Between the three teams, over $15,000 dollars was raised for the March of Dimes.

    I’d say that was a pretty good weekend.

  11. Happy Birthday! The best thing that happened to me this week? My father in law took us to the military base nearby and bought enough groceries, toiletries, and clothes/ shoes for my kids to last months! We never could have bought for ourselves what he bought for us.

    It was school vacation week this past week and I had my husband home too. Can’t beat a full family vacation. And we didn’t go anywhere, just hung out as a family and worked in the yard. It was lovely.

    My birthday was a week ago today, and that was the best thing that’s happened to me, because I got some awesome gifts and awesome love from the family.

    Nothing’s better than being made to feel special by the people you love.

  20. Happy 26! That’s just about when my life started to really come together in a happy way…

    My best thing? My team raised over $10,000 for the March of Dimes March for Babies yesterday! And none of my toenails fell off after walking 6 miles! BOOYAH.

    The best thing that happened to me this week is that my husband wrote his last exam. Which means that he can do all the work around the house while I prepare for all of MY exams.

    Gee, the last week was pretty sucky. Bad bad week overall (sorry to rain on your birthday!). Well, I guess the best thing was we went to the beach yesterday. But what made me happiest was when my daughter told me she loved me (while I was wiping her poopy butt)!

  28. oh, I comment cake, love that idea! Let me try and add some frosting here. When I turned 26, I gave birth. Both wonderful and horrifically painful experience at the same time. My 26th year was a good year and I hope for you it will be the best year ever!

    Ok, onto your present….best thing about last week…I didn’t have to work much (awesome) and the weather cooperated enough that I got to go to the park a few times and play with my girls. Best ever. Even got my nose a little sunburned on Saturday.

    Hope today is fab….you deserve it!

    The best thing that happend to me last week was… my son was hit in the testicle by a baseball ~~ that’s not the best thing that happened, silly!

    The best thing that happened was that the ultrasound that he had to endure came up negitive for any sign of rupture, easing our mind that we still may someday be grandparents to his wonderful children.

    Go eat cake, or doughnuts!!! It’s your day! 🙂

    Best thing this week- my husband finally hung the picture frame he bought me for Christmas- I go out of my way now to walk through the front entry to look at it and it greets me as I come down the stairs… Don’t know how it compares to workout equipment but I love it 🙂

  37. Happy Cake Day! Best thing last week…helping to make FIVE HUNDRED cupcakes for my niece’s wedding reception. And eating quite a few. I love cupcakes.

    And holding my brand-new TEN POUND FOUR OUNCE grandbaby every day while his mother did errands.

    The best thing that happened to me all week? Hmm…yesterday I went to Target and got a REALLY CUTE new purse. Also I found new bedding that I love and am making my husband buy me for Mother’s Day. Isn’t it sad that all my best things revolve around shopping? Nah. I love shopping.

    So many good things have happened: watching my kids wade in the creek at the park, chatting with the girls at book group (even though I didn’t read the book) until 11:30pm, and I felt the baby kick for the first time.

  46. Happy birthday! I’m about a one-week lurker, part of my biennial finals-time-procrastination-and-new-blog-finding. My husband and I are both law students, so I where you and your husband are coming from, though we don’t have kids (yet).
    Best thing that happened this week: we took part of Saturday off from studying (I had just turned in a 48-hour final) and went to the park for a couple hours. Bliss.
