Wherein I flaunt my tween celebrity status.

Kevin Bacon is married to Kyra Sedgwick.

Kyra Sedgewick was in Phenomenon with John Travolta.

John Travolta was in Hairspray with Zac Efron.

Zac Efron was in High School Musical with Tyler.

Tyler, my neigbor and geek in HSM.

Recognize him? He’s on the geek squad with Taylor.

Tyler is my dad’s neighbor. We used to play together all the time.

And this is how we play six degrees of Kevin Bacon ending with (starting with?) me.

That, and High School Musical was filmed at my high school.

Front of EHS

In Salt Lake, not in Albuquerque.

Not Albuquerque, Hollywood. Sheesh.

One more reason Hollywood is to never be believed. Anyway.

If you have a child in the house you’ve most likely seen this movie and if you’ve seen this movie chances are you’ve seen it more than once. It’s addictive like that. It just so happens I had an errand to run at my old Alma Mater and I took my trusty camera along to show you how Hollywood can turn a place that was a nightmare to me into a dream for the tween set.

The entryway, where everyone found out about Troy and Gabriella getting a callback.

Entryway

Sharpay’s locker, I wish they would have kept it pink.

Sharpay's Locker

The commons. Better known as the place where everyone busts a groove and dances on the tables in perfect synchronization completely out of the blue. Just like when I went to East. I do love musicals.

This hallway was only in the movie for a second. But it needs to be shown for I believe it to be a form of teenage torture.

Ugh, longest hallway EVER.

I’m not even taking this from the end of the hallway, this is about 3/4 of the way down. The school is four levels and three of the four hallways are this long. And as fate would have it I would somehow end up with classes on the second and fourth floors at opposite ends of the school every other period. Have I mentioned that high school was not my most glorious of years?

So there you go. You can tell your kids you know a lady who WENT! to EHS. A real live WILDCAT! (P.S. Hollywood, we were the Leopards, Wildcat is kinda lame.) And I’m even willing to sell my last honest to goodness EHS shirt to the highest bidder. That, or you could go into the Disney Store and buy a brand spanking new replica. Needless to say I don’t rock my EHS shirt in Indiana, I look too much like a Troy groupie.

  1. Holy smokes! My 12 year old nephew has made me watch HSM with him and holy smokes is he ever going to be impressed when I tell him you went there. Only my blog is a secret.

Wanna pretend that we met … um … at a conference or something? (wink wink)

  2. Whoa! I went to EHS (Enterprise High) and we really were the Wildcats.

That’s a cool high school you went to. I’m jealous you have pictures like that of your alma mater. I can’t do that because of the tornado that destroyed it last year. The school is officially gone. It was so weird to drive by it over Easter and the entire campus is completely gone now. Now I’m depressed.

But hey, maybe the new one they build will be as cool as yours.

  3. My highschool boyfriend went to East High. He used to try to have wars about who’s highschool was cooler, his or mine, and duh. HIS.

David Archuleta on American Idol? Was our neighbor (like, right next door) in Utah. We were in the same ward and everything. And his mom brought me a present when Nathan was born. Take that, Kevin Bacon!

  4. Oh I’ll be telling my nieces. This will put me even higher in their minds than when I went to the Hannah Montana movie on the weekend with them (and you know….it wasn’t terrible).

  5. Very cool! It was also filmed at Entrada in Ivins/St. George where I went to high school. Well, I didn’t go to high school on the golf course, but you know what I mean.

I’ve never seen the movie but I watched a clip that someone linked to on YouTube once and was shocked to see the big red Ivins mountain in the background.

  6. You’re like totally the coolest girl EVER!!!
    He He. That was fun.
My high school was a high school AND a middle school. There were just under 600 students total and 53 in my graduating class. It made for great senior parties and skip days…
oh, and I married one of them too. How’s that for hick town?

  7. Well, that is one happening high school. Mine was not that cool, or colorful or clean.
We haven’t delved into HSM yet, or Hannah Montana, or any of the other tween stuff. But let me tell you, most of my 7 year old’s friends watch both. Not sure what I think of that.
    You rock.

  8. I am 6 degrees from Kevin Bacon too!! Me to my brother, who was in the Natural with Robert Redford, who was in the Natural with Glenn Close, who was in Dangerous Liasons with Keanu Reeves, who was in Chain Reaction with Fred Ward, who was in Tremors with Kevin Bacon! No high school which a famous movie was filmed in, though.

I’ve never seen HSM, so I can’t relate to anything but the 6 degrees *lol*

  9. That’s all, like, so totally exciting! Ohmygosh! Anyway, I haven’t seen the movies, so I can’t truly congratulate you on your fame. But maybe someday I’ll become a mommy and my kids will beg me to watch it and then I’ll tell them, “Kids, I once knew of a person who actually went to that high school, and it’s not in Albuquerque. Now may you never have hopes again.”

  10. Oh, oh, I want to play too. My neice was an extra in HSM 2; I had to pick her at 11pm one lovely Saturday night and have her back to East High at 9am the next morning to continue filming. And no, my sister didn’t reimburse me for the 100 miles in gas.

And, I have a 4th degree separation from Kevin Bacon. It looks like this: my sister’s friend’s older sister was an extra in Footloose, which starred, you know it, Kevin Bacon.

That guy is seriously connected to the whole planet.

  11. That kinda stinks that no one broke out into song while you were there…

Oh and my friends 10 year old had to explain HSM to me, and how it was “not nearly as good as Grease was” for me when I was little!

  12. OMG, that was a real high school? I distinctly remember thinking that no high school actually looks like that. How funny.

I didn’t go there, but I live close to the high school that 10 Things I Hate About You was filmed in. Does that make me almost as cool as you? I think not, but it’s something.
