Midwest Winters. Phooey. Jobs? Hooray!

I don’t want to complain.

Just know there’s things I want to complain about, but I won’t.

I will tell you that Cody GOT! A! JOB! for the summer. And I think that means I can now tell you that I secretly hid and complained about this whole process last fall. I will also tell you that he made it onto the Executive Board for Law Review. He explained his duties to me but all I heard was “I’m going to be very busy next year blah blah.”

I have wonderful friends both in the computer and down the street. The medication I’ve started taking seems to be doing it’s job (this is a first for me). I’m not out of the dark yet, but I’m definitely moving forward.

It may even be sunny today for the first time in weeks.

BRING ON THE VITAMIN D.

The last time I did this it really lifted my wintry spirits.

I want to hear the best thing that happened to you over the last week. Anything at all. Brag it up. Even if it was only a perfect piece of toast, I want to know about it.

Thanks.

  1. Congratulations to Cody on Law Review!!! That’s HUGE!!! Glad your meds are working — I understand the darkness & despair that comes around. Know you most definitely are not alone.
Now, the best thing that happened? Actually two: 1- we had both a snow day AND a two hour delay which almost never happens and 2- my sister-in-law finally said she isn’t going to the beach with us next weekend!!! [not as mean as it sounds—-she has major issues & is mean to my daughter], Hope you have a great day and the sun shines down on you in bucketfuls!!

  2. Yeah for both of you! Brandon told me about the law review – congrats to Cody and the job too, that’s great. If you are like me if the husband is successful, it makes the wife less stressed.

I’m happy to hear spirits are up. You know we all are praying for you (well maybe except those who are not religious).

This week my husband has been studying in the same room with me at night and it has cheered me up immensely.

  3. I’m glad you’re on the way to feeling better…this weekend I can tell you the best thing that happened was that both days when the kids napped…SO DID I!!! I had an hour and half nap on Saturday, and a 2 and a half hour nap on Sunday, both days snuggled with my kids. Sad that it was the highlight of my weekend, but there you have it! 🙂

  5. As you know Winter in Indy is “interesting” to say the least.. they forcast a LOT of snow & start shutting down & nothing really comes of it. But last weekend with the Sun shining & a little bit of snow our family got outside & made SNOWMEN.. it was great!.. I now have grass exposed everywhere but 2 happy girls with 2 happy snowmen. Can’t wait for more SUN! It’s coming!!!

As far as good things this week…it was warm enough to actually go to the beach. It was heaven to sit out in the warmth of the sun, with good friends and let the kids play in the sand. Definately a good day!

I hope the sun finds you today and you can bask in the warmth as well!

Oh, yeah! Eirinn’s new Big Girl furniture arrived yesterday, which is exactly when the store said it would! Which never happens. Also? It wasn’t busted! Which also never happens. At least to us.

Best thing thus far? A friend bought me lunch on Monday…at a nice restaurant without my children in tow. Oh, and i bought my favorite snack at the deli and ate it last night on crackers while I watched American Idol….that was pretty fab.

Best thing this week? I found out that my barely “A” on my first grad school exam had a question wrong and now I’m in solid A territory. Hooray!

  11. Congrats!! I know how you hate to be alone but it will all payoff someday. I keep telling myself that (January to April for how many years?). The best thing that happened to me in the last week was ( and don’t think I am nuts), I taught photography at the Boy Scout Merit Badge Pow-wow. I know you wonder why me with no qualifications. I think the only qualification I had was saying “Yes”. I know “Stupid” stenciled on my forehead but its been there for years. It was probably hard to find people who would teach. As you know I do have lots of examples of what not to do but I also had some great shots from you and your mom I could use as great examples. I even had a few great examples of my own. I taught three classes of 16 boys each. I really think they enjoyed the class because there was no goofing around and talking instead of listening (But maybe my reputation proceeded me as well). They all said they would come back for the next two weekends to finish up. Got to go. Kiss my grandbaby for me. Love ya, Mom in Vernal

I am thrilled that the meds are starting to work and that Cody is doing so well!
Let’s see, best thing this week?
Well, between a busted open head, Pneumonia and now Pink Eye.. I think it’s that I haven’t run away or lost my mind and i’m not cowering in a corner somewhere fetal style with a margarita IV 🙂 I’m just saying.

My good news (and we’ll pretend that everything isn’t offset by losing my engagement ring) is a tie:
    1. I booked tickets to head back east for a baby shower next weekend and I’ll get to hang out with one of my best friends for days!
    2. Aw shucks…hanging out with you and the Moosh!

  14. That’s great news about Law Review and bad news about his available free time!

I’m not a proponent of law review typically, because I got published more frequently during law school because I had more time to write more, but it can definitely boost a resume.

They will be yummy.

  23. Congrats! For both of you! Law review and summer jobs help get jobs before you leave law school which is a HUGE load off when you’re trying to study for the bar.

So, my best things this week. I made the best loaves of whole wheat bread I’ve ever made. My husband is reading Pride and Prejudice. He put both kids down last night while I went swimming with friends.

My best of the week comes in twos, 1) I figured out my programming homework (YES!) and 2) hubby made the girls at work jealous by making me some hot cocoa (we work together)and bringing it in because he heard me coughing.

Many hugs and hopes you keep having awesome news.

  27. My husband was on the Board for Law Review. It means he will work even later at school and be gone for entire Saturdays so that they can sit around in a room and argue all day. It’s really awesome.

My one good thing (grasping at straws): I went spinning after a week off and still did really well. I even got a compliment from the instructor 🙂

  28. I got my computer back! I killed it a couple weeks ago and thought I’d be lucky to get the data off it, let alone all my pictures. But my lovely computer guy just “happened” to have an identical laptop with all the internal parts just a dead screen. So he swapped out the motherboard and everything is exactly like before, and even better because he fixed a few glitches that were slowing the system down. Hooray!
Oh, and I got all my hair cut off. That was fun, too!

  29. Best thing that happened over the last week, and also my greatest accomplishment in a long time, was that I didn’t eat any form of take out for 2 weeks! Ok, actually it will be two weeks on Saturday, but close enough! I cooked dinner! Every night! Including Friday and Saturday night! This is huge for me, I hate cooking and I am not so great at it. And as an added bonus, I have lost 5 pounds so far! Go me!

  30. good news this week:

my husband has been working on starting his own business. I have been patiently going nuts since December as he has been putting things together, networking, and submitting bids. Nothing was happening and we were getting rejected on every front. Yesterday he got his FIRST official paying job that he will be starting on Monday. It is really small, but i am so excited that SOMETHING happened!
