Fondant dreams and buttercream wishes.

Wondering what kind of birthday cake you’d get if you were my kid?

Well, you’d get a chocolate fudge cake (from scratch) with dark chocolate buttercream (from scratch) covered with fondant (from scratch) that pretty much looked like Barbie as the Island Princess.

And it would sing.

Four different songs.

And it would have a matching tiara for you.

Barbie as the Island Princess Birthday Cake.

Yep, that’s what you’d get.

The party is in 12 hours.

Here’s to hoping Barbie makes it that long and that no one gags from princess overload tomorrow.

Because it’s totally likely.

A big disgustingly humungo thank you shout out to Laurlee of Cakes de Fleur  in Salt Lake City for making and tinting the fondant for me. And for supplying the dress mold. And for giving us cupcakes when we went into her shop. She’s known me since I was in Kindergarten if not longer, and I want to be just like her when I grow up.

Now go buy cakes from her.

She’s even better than me.

Honestly.

  1. Mmm, trying to rearrange my schedule so I can be there, even if for 20 minutes. Barbie looks good enough to eat. Is that bad? Holy crap you did an awesome job, look at that piping.

  2. Awww… although ours didn’t sing, that cake reminds me of the ones that my grandmother used to make for my sisters and me when we were little. Thanks for that little trip down memory lane.

Beautiful job! Hope the party goes well!

  4. CAN one have too much Princessing? I suppose it is possible, but I think it would take me quite a long time.

    P.S.
The cake rocks, of course. And it is always good to know a good baker in the state.

  5. Gorgeous! Does that mean there’s a whole Barbie inside there?

And, Moosh helped decorate, right? I know Kid sure helped me when I made that mermaid cake this summer…… Uh, not.

She wants a Barbie Island Princess cake…we’re in Nashville so I may have to send this link to a friend’s sister who makes cakes here!

Beautiful! We are in Island Princess land right now thanks to Santa. 😉
