win a lenovo A70z. (contest closed.)

The winner has been chosen and notified! Thank you for all of your entries! Be sure to check out and enter the other giveaways running through the 23th here.

I have been assigned the task to give a computer away to one of you lovely people.

(Actually I’m one of twenty…for all of the other chances to win please check this list here…)

Allow me first to tell you about the computer in my own “I don’t speak geek” words.

It’s a Lenovo ThinkCentre A70Z all in one desktop. Which means it sits on your desktop and everything is all in one. No speakers, no tower, no separate screen. So how much space does it take up? Hardly any. How hard was it to set up? Not at all.

Seriously. Unboxed it, plugged it in, turned it on. That’s it. I don’t even wish I were kidding because it was that easy.

Now many of you know I’m a Mac living in a houseful of PC’s. Well. Laptop PC’s. This is our first desktop in, oh, seven years. And yo, at this price point (under $600) desktops have come a long fabulous way.

The other thing I could get all kissy faced over (you know, if it didn’t feel as though I was kissing my really gross first cousin) Windows 7. It kind of works really well. All those commercials? They aren’t lying. And considering Windows and I broke up during his experimental Vista phase? I believe he’s a changed OS and I’m willing to let him back into my life.

Another thing Lenovo does (at least as far as I can tell…) upon startup it gives you a menu of all the services you can choose to download. They’re not preinstalled, which means there’s no obnoxious uninstall. You want skype? Okay! INSTALL! (Also? Built in webcam FTW!) but don’t really love the idea of having ICQ on there? Just say no thank you and it goes away.

I’m going to say it. Windows 7 works like a Mac OS. It’s like the red headed step child of a Mac OS. Cute enough to keep around, that’s for sure.

The Lenovo entered my life after my macbook left mine. By way of a five year old knocking it onto the floor. The first thing I did with the new Lenovo? Download every flickr picture I have ever uploaded and save them onto an external hard drive. I could almost hear the Lenovo grunting “Oh yeah? 7,000 pictures? BRING IT! Let’s see your Macbook do THAT!”

In a perfect world the Lenovo A70z would be hanging on the wall in my kitchen (YES! YOU CAN HANG IT ON THE WALL!) and it would serve as the world’s greatest recipe book. Not to mention that ever since launching a little photography business on the side (which has blown up in the best possible way thank you!) having a dedicated computer to handle all the boring (but needed) work stuff has been a life saver.

Say what you want about the Mac vs. PC wars, no one can handle a good spreadsheet like the A70z up there in the man cave (also known as the office in our house.)

So here’s where the giveaway part comes into play. Tell me how a good reliable space saving computer like the Lenovo A70z could help take your business to the next level, be it something as simple as a family blog to the next great etsy store we’re all going to have to have something from. What do you wish your computer could do now that would make your life easier?

I will pick one winner randomly from all eligible entries, and by eligible I mean you put thought into it. None of this “I like computers and need a new one” crap. Okay?

the fine print.

Rules & Regulations: U.S. citizens and Canadians welcome! mooshinindy.com and Lenovo are not responsible for any lost packages or incorrect shipping addresses. The prize is not redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded. Approximate value of prizes may vary.

As compensation for this review and giveaway I did receive a free Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z for use in my home. The opinion of the machine is purely my own.

  1. My company office space is very limited since our company downsized, and moved to a smalled office. With all the clutter that is around, it decreases productivity by a whole lot! With this new computer, it could save everyone some space, and increase our sales.

  2. Oh my gosh! This would do wonders for my family and for my dreams of starting a business (An etsy shop–really! You said it, but I’m really dreamin’ it!). We live in a small 1-bedroom condo with our 1 1/2 year old and space is super tight enough as it is. Our dinosaur of a PC takes up way to much room, and organizing around it is a nightmare. Winning this would CHANGE our lives and get me motivated in the right direction. Thank you for the opportunity.

  3. Well, let me tell you that my living space where my computer is so small that if I put my arms out to my side I could probably almost touch both walls. lol. Really small. Being able to put the screen on the wall would be a dream come true. I get giddy thinking of it. Although I just write a small blog, having this computer would make my life so much simpler in that I would want to spend more time on the computer doing my blog and maybe starting another. What I would like in a computer that I do not have now is a computer that is user-friendly. Where I don’t need a Masters to figure it out.

Thanks so much for this fantastic giveaway

  4. My entry is basic. I have 6 kids, 12,11,10,8,6 and a new born. The oldest 5 all need computers for school work, never mind the desire to use it for pleasure. I have a 5 year old lap top for my use and a 7 year old almost dead Dell for the kids. More and more I have to give up the laptop to the kids.
Do I have to tell that the fighting over computer time to driving crazy. So for the sanity of this over stressed Mom I would like you to consider this entry.

  5. My husband sells dice cups for a game named “Warhammer” on ebay, he just started selling key chains as well. He has been using our laptop so far, but it is on the fritz and not very convenient, everytime he wants to print something out he has to unplug it, run to the printer (because our battery is dead, so we have to run to the other room where the printer is to plug it in before it dies) to print. we cannot shut it down anymore, it will barely power on again for some reason. I have been trying to get into ebay and etsy sales myself with sewing and scrapbooking projects, and having a space saving computer would help me have more room on my desk.

  6. I’m starting a training program geared towards teachers – how to use technology to more effectively teach. This unit would allow me to develop trainings and move it with to the training sites. MOre power to show things than a laptop and even serve as a wireless server to connect laptops for the teachers.

  7. My “business” at this point is basic editing photos to keep grandmas happy, writing my blog, and publishing a monthly newsletter for my mom’s club. But I have dreams of getting PhotoShop and learning how to use it – really use it. And of starting an anon blog. And of revamping the mom’s club newsletter. A new computer might inspire me.

  8. For me, my blogs are businesses (and pleasure most days) and this computer would be incredibly helpful for me because my office also happens to be my bedroom. I need a computer that will not only be as fully functional as a desktop but will only use up the space of a laptop. Of course it would be nice being able to put it in places that my sticky fingered toddlers can’t reach too.

  9. Having and using the Lenovo A70z would be so beneficial to our business. My husband and I are currently working on opening a care home for developmentally disabled adults. Although the home itself is very large, the space for the office is actually just a corner area in the living room. Of course we have to have a computer for the business as there are lots of notes, reports, care plans, objective data collection sheets and so forth that need to be produced. I definitely want to make the best most efficient use of this small office space and I certainly don’t want it to look cluttered. Therefore, the Lenovo A70z would be the perfect computer for our particular business situation. One thing that I wish my computer could do now that would make my life easier would be if it could send and receive documents as a fax. Because in the care home business,we have a lot of documents that we need to fax to different people for signature and we also fax to different doctors needed client info and requests for new orders.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to win

  10. Such a fantastic giveaway! My current computer is a netbook. It just can’t do all of the things that I need it to do. I have huge dreams of starting an amazing blog for all of my family to read, but I have a major problem with editing photos on this netbook. Something else that I would love to do is edit family videos – there is no way that I could do that on this netbook. The Lenovo A70z, however, would be a perfect start for me to do this. And I haven’t even mentioned the work related things that I have to use this netbook for. Let’s just say that everything takes 10x as long as it should. So, this computer would make my life much simpler as well as make me so much more productive. Thanks so much for the chance! 🙂

This Lenovo would be a big plus for me in managing, editing, and storing my years’ worth of photo collection …kids, gardening, plants, and also would be very helpful in organizing all of my school projects, research, and writing for the last few years. I especially like the compactness of this system, knowing that my desk area could be utilized for ongoing schoolwork.

  13. Not being the best of cooks, but having to cook often for dietary restriction reasons, I frequently turn to the computer for recipes or suggestions on how to make something I usually look stuff up BEFORE I start, but not always. Or sometimes I look things up and if I don’t print it out (expensive and wasteful), I have to run back to it. Unfortunately I sometimes run back to look up something and accidentally get sidetracked. In the midst of cooking, this isn’t always ideal.

In reading the reviews of the Lenovo A70z and assessing my kitchen layout, I think that it would fit nicely attached to my kitchen wall. Then I could use it to look up recipes at whim and if I got sidetracked, at least I would still be in the same room as whatever I am trying to cook. I also think that the Lenovo would be nice to have to watch or listen to downloads while doing food prep. It may make it far less tedious.

Thanks for offering this contest. Good luck to everyone!

  18. I really want to make my art my life and a good computer could get me closer to doing that. I’m sorry if this rambles but here’s were I am:

I had a web site two years ago, then we bough a house, the economy fell down and I let it lapse. Now I have a studio again, my kiln has electricity and I’m trying to restart my website, with a few major problems.

Our house was broken into this past February they took all the electronic. Most importantly for the studio they took my lovely 8mp digital camera and all my memory cards. They did not take the crappy computer. While we have insurance it was an old camera and the insurance company is not your friend. So not have a computer, I got in while I was still in collage (I graduated 5 years ago) its blown one fan already, it shuts off at will and you can run photoshop elements but only if your feeling very zen with the world and do not have a history of high blood pressure or heart problems, and it still makes a lawn mower noise. Its going to die I need to replace it and I need to get a new camera and I only have the money to do one of these things and the anxiety hamsters that live in my head do not help.

One way or another I’ll get everything together but a new computer would make thing easier

  22. I am a photographer and run my own business from home. Obviously, a good computer is a vital part of that business as I need to keep up with clients, schedule meetings and photo shoots, and edit images. However, I have VERY LITTLE space for my office-set up as my husband and I just moved into a tiny one-bedroom apartment because he has temporarily been stationed at an air force base here in Texas. We opted to go small because we don’t know how long we will be here, and then we’ll be off again. With all of the moving around we do, and the limited space I often have to work in, a computer such as this would be a dream come true!!!

  25. I run a blog as well as doing freelance web design and production. I have also used my computer for volunteer work in the past, helping design newsletter templates and updating web graphics. Since my main computer went out, I have been using my Mother-In-Laws old desktop PC in our baby’s room. I don’t have room for a full size office, but with the lenovo I wouldn’t need as much space. I could finish redecorating the baby’s room (minus the computer) and set up a small workstation in our bedroom.

We just moved from a 3 br, 1600 sf home to a 2 br, 1000 sf apt…so, needless to say even though we are increasing our family size…we’ve decreased in space due to this lovely economy…enough said. 27. Mac person here too. While one can doctor up Mac browsers to spoof Windows, it’s not the same as checking websites in the intended OS. Sadly, some designers aren’t terribly ecumenical, so I need Windows – and this Lenovo – to see them properly.

She is endlessly pilfering my laptop to use for her sewing work (as it is a portable machine which she can bring to her while she dwells in her sewing area downstairs) and a slim machine like this is perfect for her limited space on her sewing tables, while the wireless connection means that she will have instant access to our network and the internet.

  32. Oh, wow, thanks for doing this amazing giveaway!

I would love to win this for my husband, who just started his own law practice. He is using the same laptop he bought when he started law school in 2004, which was the most basic $300 Dell he could find–it was just for taking notes and typing papers at the time. Well now he is a Real Attorney, and that laptop is SO. SLOW. But after shelling out big bucks for malpractice insurance and all the other fees that go along with starting a law practice, he doesn’t have money to buy a new computer yet. He got his official paperwork back a couple weeks ago and just got his first client today, so we’re hoping this is a sign of good things and more business, for which he could really use a computer that doesn’t take 20 minutes just to load Windows!

  33. My wife and I had an etsy store awhile back. Things were going well until both of our computers crashed and weren’t fixable. We can’t afford a new computer so we are using a cheap little laptop to get online. The screen is shot so we have to hook it to a monitor at all times. It’s linux and we have no clue how to do anything with it and every time we try we have to factory reset because we mess it up. Oh, and there is no photo editing to be had on the thing at all, which is a huge part of selling online (and the main reason we can’t anymore). Pretty much? The current laptop is a piece of junk, so winning this ThinkCentre would be amazing.

  34. I don’t have a business, but I do a lot of work at home, involving editing of big spreadsheets, scheduling my subordinates, and creating architectural models. All of which, I can and do do today on my very capable tablet PC (HP tx2z). However, it is all very painful on the tiny 12 inch screen. Yes, an external monitor could help, but honestly it wouldn’t be convenient, with all the wires, and having to plug/unplug the tablet frequently. Plus, if I had a all-in-one like this, I could very well leave my tablet at work, making my life there easier, as well as not having to commute with the tablet.

Also, we have 4 laptops (including my tablet) in all in our home. 1 is locked-down by my dad’s employer. The other two are half-broken or plain too old and I can’t put Windows 7 on them. Which results in a frustrating experience for my mother regularly. So, this would make a great family computer and allow homegroup networking.

  36. I covet that computer So.Much. For many reasons, here are a few:

I’m a grad student, which translates into hours spent at my refurbished computer that thankfully keeps chugging along. Slowly, but still chugging. I’m so afraid that it will croak any day now.

I work from home, which requires a computer. I’ve actually had to turn jobs down because for whatever reason, my old and sluggish pc would not work with the company software. This is my only income, so I depend on my computer. We are all in trouble if it dies.

I have two teenagers. Unlike when I was in middle and high school (the dark ages), they actually need to use the computer quite a bit for their own school work. There have been times when my pc was in the shop and we had to beg friends to let us come over and use their computers. We are not too proud to do that, but it’s really inconvenient and sometimes, there is no one around to “borrow” computer time from. Yikes!

So my whole family could really benefit from a new – working! – computer. Great giveaway, thanks!

  40. Their are 6 of us in my family with one desktop PC to share. This makes for some interesting *conversation* lol. I will be starting Homeschooling for the first time this year and am doing this with my old, cheap and not-so reliable PC. The Lenovo ThinkCentre would definitely reduce a ton of clutter by freeing up some much needed desk space in my “make-shift” home office. The reduction in wires alone makes me want to jump for joy. I have to spend at least 5 minutes trying to figure out what is plugged into what. This would eliminate some of that mess.
I wish the computer I had now would store all the info. I need it to without running slow or freeze up. My PC now is used at least 8 hours a day and has to be restarted at least 3 times a day to keep from freezing up.
Thank you for this awesome opportunity to win one.

  41. Truth? I doubt I’d get to use it for ANYTHING income-producing, unless we’re thinking very, VERY long term. It would be a family computer, used primarily by my kids for homework (and probably a game or two!), thus furthering their education, and future mom-supporting earning opportunities!

My son is at the age where he’s using the computer more for school, and this would give him more space for the keyboard by being able to put the monitor on the wall.
