I have been assigned the task to give a computer away to one of you lovely people.
(Actually I’m one of twenty…for all of the other chances to win please check this list here…)
Allow me first to tell you about the computer in my own “I don’t speak geek” words.
It’s a Lenovo ThinkCentre A70Z all in one desktop. Which means it sits on your desktop and everything is all in one. No speakers, no tower, no separate screen. So how much space does it take up? Hardly any. How hard was it to set up? Not at all.
Seriously. Unboxed it, plugged it in, turned it on. That’s it. I don’t even wish I were kidding because it was that easy.
Now many of you know I’m a Mac living in a houseful of PC’s. Well. Laptop PC’s. This is our first desktop in, oh, seven years. And yo, at this price point (under $600) desktops have come a long fabulous way.
The other thing I could get all kissy faced over (you know, if it didn’t feel as though I was kissing my really gross first cousin) Windows 7. It kind of works really well. All those commercials? They aren’t lying. And considering Windows and I broke up during his experimental Vista phase? I believe he’s a changed OS and I’m willing to let him back into my life.
Another thing Lenovo does (at least as far as I can tell…) upon startup it gives you a menu of all the services you can choose to download. They’re not preinstalled, which means there’s no obnoxious uninstall. You want skype? Okay! INSTALL! (Also? Built in webcam FTW!) but don’t really love the idea of having ICQ on there? Just say no thank you and it goes away.
I’m going to say it. Windows 7 works like a Mac OS. It’s like the red headed step child of a Mac OS. Cute enough to keep around, that’s for sure.
The Lenovo entered my life after my macbook left mine. By way of a five year old knocking it onto the floor. The first thing I did with the new Lenovo? Download every flickr picture I have ever uploaded and save them onto an external hard drive. I could almost hear the Lenovo grunting “Oh yeah? 7,000 pictures? BRING IT! Let’s see your Macbook do THAT!”
In a perfect world the Lenovo A70z would be hanging on the wall in my kitchen (YES! YOU CAN HANG IT ON THE WALL!) and it would serve as the world’s greatest recipe book. Not to mention that ever since launching a little photography business on the side (which has blown up in the best possible way thank you!) having a dedicated computer to handle all the boring (but needed) work stuff has been a life saver.
Say what you want about the Mac vs. PC wars, no one can handle a good spreadsheet like the A70z up there in the man cave (also known as the office in our house.)
So here’s where the giveaway part comes into play. Tell me how a good reliable space saving computer like the Lenovo A70z could help take your business to the next level, be it something as simple as a family blog to the next great etsy store we’re all going to have to have something from. What do you wish your computer could do now that would make your life easier?
I will pick one winner randomly from all eligible entries, and by eligible I mean you put thought into it. None of this “I like computers and need a new one” crap. Okay?
the fine print.
Rules & Regulations: U.S. citizens and Canadians welcome! mooshinindy.com and Lenovo are not responsible for any lost packages or incorrect shipping addresses. The prize is not redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded. Approximate value of prizes may vary.
As compensation for this review and giveaway I did receive a free Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z for use in my home. The opinion of the machine is purely my own.

The Lenovo ThinkCentre sounds like it would be a fun and useful computer. I would love to have one! I think the idea of using it in the kitchen is fabulous, what a way to save on printing out recipes. I think it would provide great inspiration to pick back up my writing and maybe just maybe tackle the novel I dream of writing.

This hanging on the wall business is blowing my mind. I luh-luh-love the idea of hanging it in the kitchen for a recipe station, as my (old and slow) laptop is usually only used on the kitchen counter when I’m cooking. I’m also starting a new business within the next few months, and I’d love if my husband and I could have separate spaces and I don’t have to feel guilty about taking the computer since he is in grad school. And with such a small apartment, the space-saving element of this computer is awesome!

I have this laptop that is about to die and it sits in the kitchen so that we can use it at will. We use it most mornings to skype our dad/hubby- he works all over the usa and is gone for 12-13 days at a time. I would love a new space saving computer that would fit on the kitchen counter and that we could use to keep in touch with daddy and that my soon to be school going 5 year old could use to stay excited about learning.

Tell me how a good reliable space saving computer like the Lenovo A70z could help take your business to the next level:
!!!!! My dh & I were just discussing this yesterday!! He needs a better home office space but we don’t have a large enough space to set up a behemoth desktop. We currently have laptop with *gasp* Vista. My dh started 2 new businesses in the last year & the biggest challenge so far has been all the time wasted trying to get our laptop to do even the simplest jobs! Having a space saving computer that actually works would SERIOUSLY jumpstart our businesses!!
What do you wish your computer could do now that would make your life easier?
Um, run the software that my husband is trying to sell. I think every other non-Vista computer in the world could do it. Plus, having a computer that doesn’t crash once a day, particularly just as you are about to send an important email, would be fabulous!

We have a desktop now. And it rarely gets used. My blog hasn’t been updated in over a month. It’s just that the only place it “fits” in our house is out of the main path of travel. So I do’t go there much. And when I do it’s for necesary things, like my lia sophia business stuff. I’d love it if I could hang this on the wall and have it somewhere I could actually use it for fun AND make my business easier

Such a fancy new machine would certainly help me to get my photos edited and sorted MUCH faster. Case in point? It’s taken me over an hour to just look at fireworks photos in lightroom, and I’m only half way done. Gah!
It would also let me use computer programs to study for (and hopefully pass) medical boards. The pursuit of higher education FTW!

What a beautiful machine. I need this computer because my husband is a gaming freak and is always hogging the computer even when I have to get on to do my schoolwork, I am trying to finish my finance degree. I literally have to unplug and steal his headphones/mic and the mouse to get him off of there sometimes!!

My name is Auntie Nettie and I have a dream. I have a dream of a new fancy schmacy Levano computer — one with the storage capacity to save all my pictures that I have been taking and storing at work. (BAD Nettie!) I have a dream of a computer that would have Skype capability, so I could communicate with all my far-flung family and friends. I have a dream of a computer that would have wi-fi access, so I could surf and play at home and not on the company dime. I have a dream of a computer that would be fast and speedy, with storage and photo editing capability — so I could actually FINALLY get that esty shop up and online — and get all my crafts out of my studio. What a dream, a computer that would neatly fit into the tiny 250 square foot space that serves too many purposes. Imagine! I am Auntie Nettie, and I have PC-dreams to finally lose my semi-luddite status in my personal life and enter the 21st century.

I am working with an almost 4 year old Mac, which is the longest i’ve ever had a computer EVER. It’s okay, but now that we have settled back in Indiana and I am brainstorming on what my next passion will be, I realize I need a fresh computer.
I want to create videos full of creative entrepreneurial ideas for teenagers and more specifically, teenage girls and teenage mothers to help them be independent while earning money for college and life’s needs. I’d like to get these produced and share them with Boys and Girls Clubs, after school programs and other organizations that reach out to these teens.
Thanks! 🙂

I wish my computer could… save space! Really, I have a small room and half of the space is taken up by a clunky computer desk and monitor/tower setup. Having it all in the size of a laptop would be a lifesaver and I could finally have a decent living space.

I run a consulting business out of the house and so my morning includes helping get the kids (3&5) out the door. How about we find out? 🙂

A PC like the A70z is just what I need. I live in a small home so space is a premium. The slim form factor would allow me to properly set up my photography gear (cameras, scanner, external storage). With the A70z I can use these tools to edit and distribute images and video content.

Ok, so maybe I live under a rock, but I didn’t even know that such a thing existed. We have a 5 year old laptop that’s as slow as molasses. I now have the patience of a saint just because I’m used to w . . .a . . .i . . .t . . i . . .n . .g FOREVER to do the simplest things. We run a benefit each year for the American Cancer Society, and the effort involved in fighting with our laptop could be averted by owning something shiny and new and state-of-the-art. (Not to mention easy to set up!) My mind is just spinning with thoughts of creating flyers and keeping track of expenses and keeping our website up-to-date. Oh, the possibilities!

My girlfriend works from home and when you consider all the crap that goes on a desk such as her files, phone, jelly belly dispenser (It’s a NECESSITY! I won’t hear otherwise) , office supplies, keyboard, mouse, etc… there is next to no room for anything else. Something like this on the wall would really clear up some space for her to slam her head on the desk when people drive her crazy… or maybe to put pictures or something useful there.

I am an aspiring photographer, always looking for new gear. I am very low budget, hence a D3000, and I’ve been trying to save up for a new computer, because all I have now is a 10 year old Dell Inspiron 6000. It’s really tiring waiting for Photoshop to load up, or even flickr to load up. I would really benefit from a space saving computer as well, because photography comes with lots of clutter. I have way too many wires on my desk, and a hanging monitor would be great, as I just have a blank wall behind my desk.
Thank you very much!

Take my business to the next level?
Well, this is the thing: I’m a relatively new Dad, and my son just turned 2. The biggest change that came with his birthday is that he moved from our sitting room, into his own bedroom. Translation: No more office. Bummer, huh?
To top things off, my wife and I can’t really convert the now-vacated sitting room into an office because were planning on expanding our little family, so that’s out.
The point is, it’s getting increasingly more difficult to do stuff for my business on my work laptop (big no-no), ad my old laptop is on it’s last legs (a binder clip keeping the screen from flickering, and a twist-tie bridging a short in the power cord.
I need a new pc! Since our family is growing, I need it to take up as little space as possible. This would do nicely!

Zip, zap, buzz, sleeeeep…..never to wake up. Our old computer died this spring. Making do with borrowed units here & there. We could really use a new computer! We use the web and email to organize multiple community activities – organizing the building of our community playground, organizing the family ski events, and helping to coordinate the local volunteer fire department. A new computer is out of our budget, but is really needed. Thanks for the chance to win.

I look after a couple of kids during the week and they are starting to become fascinated with technology, or more specifically subtle ways of sullying my laptop with toddler hands (and who knows what is on those).
A desktop would be an ideal solution (because I tote my laptop around from room to room and only have a desk in one of them) and I only have enough space for something streamlined.

What could a computer do to improve my life? For starters, could it teach my children to say “please” and “thank you”, to pick up their toys (unasked), to clear the clutter from the family table/craft center/glue drying space/Lego gallery? In our household, next to the family table, lies the kitchen counter – my clutter zone, and home of the now kaput laptop, central storage of my recipes, lesson plans, et cetera. A computer like the one in your generous offer would enable me to be the kind of parent and teacher I strive to be – one who models positive behavior. It would enable me to declutter my kitchen counter (modeling behavior for my children to emulate), thereby better organizing my life and work (I am CEO of the household), and, most importantly, pleasing my husband (Chief Worker of the household) by achieving his life dream of coming home at the end of the day to a house with an energetic wife, boisterous and cheerful children, and a clean, clutter-free countertop. Thanks for this chance to express my faults and aspirations.

Having a computer that takes less space means a cleaner cutter free home office space. I could get more paper work done as my desk is cramped as is with this big tower sitting on it. Then maybe my ebay store will get even more productive with my uncluttered desk that lacks productivity.

I wish my current computer would turn on! It would make editing photos so much easier! I do have a back-up computer — an 8 inch netbook — ever try editing photos on an 8 inch screen? The Lenovo would be great because it turns on and it doesn’t take up tonnes of room and there wouldn’t be cords all over the place (I hate tripping on cords). I live in a teeny house (700 sq ft) and space is always at a premium. The screen on the Lenovo looks wonderful and I imagine that Photoshop would run like a dream on it — I can hear it purring now. I would get tonnes more editting done on this baby and when I got up for a stretch break, I wouldn’t trip over the ten million cords and sprain my ankle (true story!). Plus, my nephew could watch movies when he came over and not have to ask Antee for magnifying glasses to see the screen (I have a 10 inch tube TV that is currently hooked up to a VCR — because my DVD player is on the computer that doesn’t turn on, yes I live in 1980). Windows 7 sounds wonderful — the computer that doesn’t turn on has Vista — I think that’s part of the problem!

My work is my life, I take it everywhere. I find myself defending my life quite often,
and a portable data and image source always help. For decades, I’ve been a proponent of a unique theory, now more factually backed, that has gotten me in trouble repeatedly, luv trouble. We are a nation in denial about how we run business, I grew up in a household with 3 businesses and was a rep for small business for 2 corps. I analyze data, I sometimes hear where the bodies of dead children are because my govt. is not allocating funds to use the space program for non-commercial (protection) purposes but for private individual behavioral control. As a filmmaker, films about the development of technology without regulation is what I am passionate about. Telling the true stories that are buried. A portable computer, that can hang anywhere – because plenty of people want to see me hand – with a large screen is good for both the study of films and for representing the ideas and images I need to show to persons who facilitate what I do and/or keep me out of a mental ward.

Wow, I read the review and I was thinking : That would be the ideal solution to replace my old PC, still running XP SP1. Yes, SP1. The issue is I lost the packaging with the XP CD so I no longer have my product license key. Microsoft therefore considers me as a pirate!
Argh, argh, captain! This new unit would turn my life around by making me legit again! I will finally be able to install software that requires minimum SP2 (which is like, 99.9% of softwares out there). With WIN 7 that won’t be an issue anymore!
So go ahead, make my day, argh, argh!

My current desktop computer is very old and slow. I have a review blog, but I am constantly getting kicked off the our laptop as I try to update it and add content so my children can do “homework”. They take their time doing their “homework” (which of course includes updating their facebook pages and chatting with friends) and I am stuck on our very old, very slow desktop. So if I won I would be able to use a new fast machine and be more productive.

The Lenovo A70z all-in-one would be a great addition to any business because these save space and consume less energy than standard desktops. Hopefully that will result in more productivity and lowered costs. Personally, I think these are also great for home users too – you can keep it in a kitchen and out of reach from kids and /or pets (like large dogs). Less cables for the dogs to chew up = less downtime!

I like computers and I need a new one. Okay, okay…really, since I am having to run with my tail between my legs back to my old house, where my spacious office space now will be turned into my 3×2′ closet back home in my master bedroom, where I will be working between my smelly running shoes and the two dresses that still fit me, it would be rad to be able to hang! my! monitor! on! the! wall! behind said dresses, so then it can ‘look’ like I just have a regular closet. You know…then when really important people come over, they won’t feel so sorry for me. 😉
Oh, and I love you more than anyone else on here. No, really I do!

We have been desperately trying to put our lives back together after a 3 year depression spiral on his part and a matching manage-what-I-can-keep-my-head-out-of-the-darkdark-waters fight for me.
