I have been assigned the task to give a computer away to one of you lovely people.
(Actually I’m one of twenty…for all of the other chances to win please check this list here…)
Allow me first to tell you about the computer in my own “I don’t speak geek” words.
It’s a Lenovo ThinkCentre A70Z all in one desktop. Which means it sits on your desktop and everything is all in one. No speakers, no tower, no separate screen. So how much space does it take up? Hardly any. How hard was it to set up? Not at all.
Seriously. Unboxed it, plugged it in, turned it on. That’s it. I don’t even wish I were kidding because it was that easy.
Now many of you know I’m a Mac living in a houseful of PC’s. Well. Laptop PC’s. This is our first desktop in, oh, seven years. And yo, at this price point (under $600) desktops have come a long fabulous way.
The other thing I could get all kissy faced over (you know, if it didn’t feel as though I was kissing my really gross first cousin) Windows 7. It kind of works really well. All those commercials? They aren’t lying. And considering Windows and I broke up during his experimental Vista phase? I believe he’s a changed OS and I’m willing to let him back into my life.
Another thing Lenovo does (at least as far as I can tell…) upon startup it gives you a menu of all the services you can choose to download. They’re not preinstalled, which means there’s no obnoxious uninstall. You want skype? Okay! INSTALL! (Also? Built in webcam FTW!) but don’t really love the idea of having ICQ on there? Just say no thank you and it goes away.
I’m going to say it. Windows 7 works like a Mac OS. It’s like the red headed step child of a Mac OS. Cute enough to keep around, that’s for sure.
The Lenovo entered my life after my macbook left mine. By way of a five year old knocking it onto the floor. The first thing I did with the new Lenovo? Download every flickr picture I have ever uploaded and save them onto an external hard drive. I could almost hear the Lenovo grunting “Oh yeah? 7,000 pictures? BRING IT! Let’s see your Macbook do THAT!”
In a perfect world the Lenovo A70z would be hanging on the wall in my kitchen (YES! YOU CAN HANG IT ON THE WALL!) and it would serve as the world’s greatest recipe book. Not to mention that ever since launching a little photography business on the side (which has blown up in the best possible way thank you!) having a dedicated computer to handle all the boring (but needed) work stuff has been a life saver.
Say what you want about the Mac vs. PC wars, no one can handle a good spreadsheet like the A70z up there in the man cave (also known as the office in our house.)
So here’s where the giveaway part comes into play. Tell me how a good reliable space saving computer like the Lenovo A70z could help take your business to the next level, be it something as simple as a family blog to the next great etsy store we’re all going to have to have something from. What do you wish your computer could do now that would make your life easier?
I will pick one winner randomly from all eligible entries, and by eligible I mean you put thought into it. None of this “I like computers and need a new one” crap. Okay?
the fine print.
Rules & Regulations: U.S. citizens and Canadians welcome! mooshinindy.com and Lenovo are not responsible for any lost packages or incorrect shipping addresses. The prize is not redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded. Approximate value of prizes may vary.
As compensation for this review and giveaway I did receive a free Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z for use in my home. The opinion of the machine is purely my own.

I have pretty limited desk space and being able to hang the computer on the wall in front of my desk would give me more space for documents. Plus, replacing my old sluggish computer with a computer that boots so quickly and runs efficiently would definitely boost my productivity. Thanks for the chance to win!

It would be nice to have 2 computers in the house. So I could do my blog stuff while my 5 year old played Hannah Montana for the 1000 time that day.

I think computer wise I’m looking for something that could be mounted in my bedroom to watch movies on. So this fits the bill wonderfully!

The fun answer is that my friend Joyce bought an all-in-one IBM many years ago and I’ve been hearing ever since how great it is. She has sent me the URL several times. They don’t make them any more.
The serious answer is that my job requires me to be on Skype all day. My 3 year old laptop has better sound quality than the old desktop I was using before, but I still have to listen to people complain all day that they are getting an echo, and hanging up on me because they can’t hear me. I’m sure all the RAM in this would make it sound a lot better. My job pays very little so I can’t buy a new computer. Also, the laptop I have is 3 years old and the monitor stopped working a few weeks ago so I have to keep it plugged into an external monitor which is awkward. I have to have the laptop on my lap and the monitor on the desk so I can see the monitor. It is hot and my cat sits on the desk so I can’t see the lower part of the screen, like right now.

I love my laptop, but I’ve been getting eyestrain from looking at the monitor at a bad angle. Throw in typing out an entire book on a laptop keyboard and well, it’s not exactly fun. I live in the cloud, but a desktop would be easier on my hands and eyes.

Our desktop is dying a slow, painful death. And, it’s just slow. I would love a replacement for my desktop that has some speed and storage. We need a consolidated place to store photos and back-up important documents.

Honestly, I do not own a business, or have a blog. I do a lot of “contests” and a new space saving, clean up the clutter machine, would make it possible to take the machine to the rec room. Very little desk space needed.

I’ve been a devoted Lenovo user for about 6-7 years — specifically, using the ThinkPad laptop. This past fall when I needed to buy a new laptop, my design friends were telling me to cut the crap and go Mac but I still stuck with them. The brand has delivered for me!
But for my graphic design work, I realllly could use a bigger screen.
And this cute little space saving unit is a far cry from the huge monitor I had as part of my last desktop system.

Well, let’s see. Being the crafty person that I am, I would def. hang it on the wall in the kitchen. Maybe even from the cabinets. It would be an useful, in that I would be able to look up craft ideas and check on other people’s blogs. Dare I say, I might even take the idea and run with it of creating my own crafty blog. I would then let all the world know just how crafty I am. ( maybe then I could use someone’s crochet hat pattern without the fear of jail time, lol) And if I may bribe the judge, I will make you something pretty with all the ideas that I find.

Lately, my computer is overheating. KIND OF A LOT. If I put my laptop on my lap, two days later I still have pink marks (the short answer is: Stop putting your laptop on your lap Sarah! You idiot! — but that’s a small fix to a big prob).
I work from home and need to be able to write, monkey with my pictures and be accessible. Probably won’t have much luck building my business using smoke signals. 🙂

It would help my take my getting busy business to the next level.
I use my work laptop for just about everything (yes, we all know that is bad). My SO has a desktop that is on its last legs.
He has been hinting that we need to get a new computer. We don’t have money. This causes stress in the relationship. Free computer? No stress in the relationship! (in regards to the computer anyway!). So it helps our getting busy business.

To me, desk space is everything. Working out of a small apartment hasn’t been easy. The area devoted to work often gets cluttered and causes accidental spilling of liquids. The Lenovo A70z might not be able to save the world, but it could help save me. Hanging on the wall would free up a lot of space and save me from worries of another accidental spill. It may even allow me to be more efficient at work and be able to afford a new apartment…

That is one fine looking machine. My husband, also a fine looking machine, is finishing his dissertation this year, which means he won’t be home…ever. BUT, if we could set up a nice little space for him- emphasis on little because our student townhouse is, well, little- perhaps we would see more of him. And perhaps it would help him get done what he needs to so that he can go out and conquer the world and whatnot. Also, it would be great for my blogging to have something out of reach from the kiddies. Pick me, pick me!!

I’m an educational advocate using a computer bought in 1999. It reboots itself all the time, making me lose the work that I’ve done but haven’t yet saved. As an advocate, I have to keep copious records of children’s test scores, report cards, IEPs, etc. and my current work computer is filled to the max with data. There is no more room, so a new computer that fits into a small space would be so helpful for the business.

I wish that the family computer actually WORKED well enough for all six kids to be able to use it without aggravation. It’s slowly dying and frustrating all of us. It would make my life easier if I didn’t have to stop my very important work online (blog reading) and have to reset theirs all flippin’ day.
Oh, please, please pick me. I’m desperate here.

Well, I would be able to see my monitor for starters…I have this feline issue. They believe the best seat in the house is between my keyboard and my monitor! And one of them prefers to stand there and just look at me. But I would also love to have the extra room on the desk for project materials. I am prelaunch in a new business, and have a lot of forms I need to design. I need the room. Thanks!

I’m lucky to have a desktop Mac that makes my life ten times easier already, but if I won this contest I would give the computer to my parents in a heartbeat. They’re both using ancient laptops that allow them to go make a pot of coffee between page loads and I know they’d love to have an upgrade. My mom is starting her own purse business and could definitely use an awesome computer to get her started!

OMG OMG!!! The computer I have now is my life. I work from home doing customer service and my little Dell does it all–it’s my Facebooker/Customer Servicer/Everythinger. My hard drive seemed huge when I bought it back in, god, I don’t even know, 2005? 80 gigs, baby! Now I have an external drive and have upgraded my RAM as far as it will go, which is..well, it’s not very far I’ll tell you that much. With a new machine I could work and play at the SAME TIME (just don’t tell my boss!) without getting those warnings telling me I’m running out of memory, and that I should just quit making the ol’ thing work so dang hard. Please please pick me. Please?

This time last year, I was getting ready to be a grad school (Nurse Anesthesia) widow. We survived through 2.75 semesters after moving 1006 miles away from both of our families and everyone that we know.
I found a decent job, which as a highlight will pay for *some* of my grad school, so I am starting in August in an online Masters program. When we saw these in Best Buy (while drooling over things that we can’t afford) the first thing that I thought was we have to put this on the way in the kitchen, it would let us know who is coming and going, who has clinical, who has online class at 7pm, so you will have to figure out dinner on your own, etc.
Plus, it is super sexy.

oh fantastic! I am in need of an upgrade in my PC for my business, and I’ve been toying with the idea of a desktop of some kind. But space is always a consideration, especially because my ‘office’ is actually the corner of my kid’s playroom (so I can work & keep an eye on things at the same time. Motherhood = Multitasking!)
But, with a new baby coming, my new computer dreams are at the bottom of the list, heh. Which is okay. But it would be awesome to get this! 🙂

Oh my goodness! LOVE this computer! The desktop we have now is soooooooo s l o w that I can barely force myself to use it! I would love to actually be able to sit down, turn it on, and you know, do something on it within a couple of minutes, rather than pulling my hair out while waiting for it. And I’m pretty sure my job would prefer me to use my own computer rather than my work computer more often!

Hey I NEED one because I have just recently went back to school to finish my degree, and well all i have is this CRAPPY laptop, with keys missing (thanks 3 and 2 yr old daughters!) a sticky touch mouse pad, and no proper office program because we got a virus, had to rebot it or something and it wiped it off and we are too poor to buy a new one, so it makes doing school work GREAT!

I got my first big girl (DSLR) camera a few months ago. I’m still a work in progress, but I’m figuring it out! The problem is that my computer acts like I’m trying to kill it anytime I transfer pictures over from the camera. Also, it runs at turtle speed whenever I try to use Photoshop ELEMENTS. I can’t even imagine what it would do with the full version of Photoshop that I have every intention of getting (whether the husband agrees or not!).
I also have 5 kids, so anything that takes up less space is a super big plus in our house!

My kids are currently using an old desktop with the tower and all it’s associated stuff. Not only would the all-in-one make their desk space infinitely more usable, but not having to deal with Vista? The OS that makes the computer incomprehensible to my kids? That would be worth it’s weight in gold.

Photography, blogging, running my etsy shop – honestly, I am on the computer way more than I’d like to admit! The PC we currently have is slow, slightly annoying and gives me hives because it likes to do fun things like not shut down properly and close programs with no warning. Having this computer would definitely take my business (all of them!) to the next level. Buying a new computer is not in the cards right now, so winning one would provoke a serious happy dance! 🙂

I’d love to win because I’m a college student. I had to take a year off after graduating high school because my father’s recent stroke had pretty much killed our finances. I had saved up plenty of money for a laptop, but financial aid didn’t cover up as much as I thought it would for tuition, and I had to use my savings. It’d be nice to not have to share a computer with the four other members of my family, especially since I have two online classes this fall.

An all-in-one computer would be great in my student dorms! I usually have to use campus computers to run my rather small online business! It provides enough to buy a couple boxes of ramen a month, but I could increase my business if I didn’t have to wait for a computer in the lab, and then wait some more for the cursor to move! Hope I win this computer!

The computer itself would be of great use to my unemployed/trying to become self employed graphic designer husband who can’t afford a Mac. And currently uses a PC that we fight over. Also we are in the process of renovating our home, one room at a time. This means throwing out the old and doing major decluttering. I really think this computer could be just what we need.

I wish my company could provide us with a reliable space saving computer like the Lenovo A70z, allowing us more work space and storage space in our little cubicle. It’s better than a notebook because the screen is bigger and you don’t have to store it everyday when you leave your office.

First of all, I could hang this on the wall right above my desk and free up some space I haven’t seen in a decade. In my tiny apartment, that’s a real +plus+. Second, there’s a small local funeral home that wants to provide DVDs to clients to be used in services and as mementos. Having this snazzy new computer to replace my decade-old clunker (yes, I still have a CRT, can you believe it??) would allow me the opportunity to at least explore this potential part-time revenue venture.

As another Mac person, I must say that Apple came up with this all-in-one concept about 12 years ago and called it the iMac. 😉 I have one of the flat panels and the only thing I don’t like about it is how deceivingly heavy it is…it doesn’t look like it should be that heavy but it is. Other than that, it works the same way you describe…unbox, plug in, turn on. ❤

Break out the tissues because this may truly be the saddest story of a death of a computer. Ever.
Like many people right now, our budget is tight and a new computer isn’t on the ‘needs’ list. My Husband has been working with the same Laptop since college. The thing was on it’s last legs when it stopped powering on all together. My Husband took the laptop apart and soldered something to something and was able to get the dinosaur to powered on again. (IT’S ALIVE!) He was so proud! I mean he called all his brothers, his mom, his dad, and at least half of our friends to tell them about his mad skills. He was very protective said computer as well. There was even a fight about how I was to be careful with the thing, and I was all mad that he would think that I would hurt it. Not even a week later I was walking over to the computer with a bowl of chili and a glass of lemonade. Being the klutzy person that I am for some unknown reason tripped on air and the glass hit the bowl and broke in my hand. Shattered in my hand. Lemonade and glass went everywhere. My hand was cut and the knee jerk reaction I had was to drop the bowl of chili on the computer. I killed my husbands computer. I haven’t felt so bad about anything since the time I wrecked both our vehicles in one weeks time span. I say this so you understand the depths of my ability to cause my very kind and forgiving husband grief. SO I ask you consider this entry. My husband has been working off my computer. We are not the same type of computer users. He needs to work, and I work as a therapist and can’t do my job without my computer. HELP! Save us from this one computer balancing act.
