win a lenovo A70z. (contest closed.)

The winner has been chosen and notified! Thank you for all of your entries! Be sure to check out and enter the other giveaways running through the 23th here.

I have been assigned the task to give a computer away to one of you lovely people.

(Actually I’m one of twenty…for all of the other chances to win please check this list here…)

Allow me first to tell you about the computer in my own “I don’t speak geek” words.

It’s a Lenovo ThinkCentre A70Z all in one desktop. Which means it sits on your desktop and everything is all in one. No speakers, no tower, no separate screen. So how much space does it take up? Hardly any. How hard was it to set up? Not at all.

Seriously. Unboxed it, plugged it in, turned it on. That’s it. I don’t even wish I were kidding because it was that easy.

Now many of you know I’m a Mac living in a houseful of PC’s. Well. Laptop PC’s. This is our first desktop in, oh, seven years. And yo, at this price point (under $600) desktops have come a long fabulous way.

The other thing I could get all kissy faced over (you know, if it didn’t feel as though I was kissing my really gross first cousin) Windows 7. It kind of works really well. All those commercials? They aren’t lying. And considering Windows and I broke up during his experimental Vista phase? I believe he’s a changed OS and I’m willing to let him back into my life.

Another thing Lenovo does (at least as far as I can tell…) upon startup it gives you a menu of all the services you can choose to download. They’re not preinstalled, which means there’s no obnoxious uninstall. You want skype? Okay! INSTALL! (Also? Built in webcam FTW!) but don’t really love the idea of having ICQ on there? Just say no thank you and it goes away.

I’m going to say it. Windows 7 works like a Mac OS. It’s like the red headed step child of a Mac OS. Cute enough to keep around, that’s for sure.

The Lenovo entered my life after my macbook left mine. By way of a five year old knocking it onto the floor. The first thing I did with the new Lenovo? Download every flickr picture I have ever uploaded and save them onto an external hard drive. I could almost hear the Lenovo grunting “Oh yeah? 7,000 pictures? BRING IT! Let’s see your Macbook do THAT!”

In a perfect world the Lenovo A70z would be hanging on the wall in my kitchen (YES! YOU CAN HANG IT ON THE WALL!) and it would serve as the world’s greatest recipe book. Not to mention that ever since launching a little photography business on the side (which has blown up in the best possible way thank you!) having a dedicated computer to handle all the boring (but needed) work stuff has been a life saver.

Say what you want about the Mac vs. PC wars, no one can handle a good spreadsheet like the A70z up there in the man cave (also known as the office in our house.)

So here’s where the giveaway part comes into play. Tell me how a good reliable space saving computer like the Lenovo A70z could help take your business to the next level, be it something as simple as a family blog to the next great etsy store we’re all going to have to have something from. What do you wish your computer could do now that would make your life easier?

I will pick one winner randomly from all eligible entries, and by eligible I mean you put thought into it. None of this “I like computers and need a new one” crap. Okay?

the fine print.

Rules & Regulations: U.S. citizens and Canadians welcome! mooshinindy.com and Lenovo are not responsible for any lost packages or incorrect shipping addresses. The prize is not redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded. Approximate value of prizes may vary.

As compensation for this review and giveaway I did receive a free Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z for use in my home. The opinion of the machine is purely my own.

  1. After starting a newspaper in our hometown this year a new computer would definitely be amazing for our business!

We are primarily Mac users too, but having this for the office (on the wall!!!) to work on layout might be a game changer.

  2. Uhm do you even know what I could DO if I could hang my computer on the wall? WHERE MY TODDLER COULD NOT REACH IT?! I feel a little faint. Deep breath. I love the idea of hanging a computer in the kitchen for recipes! I have snatched most of my best dishes from blogs. And let’s face it, I do most of my writing standing up in the kitchen anyway (see: STICKYFINGERED TODDLER).

  3. I wish my computer would just work properly. It is new, but does ridiculous things like lock up Picasa and the wireless internet connection seizes up and holds the entire computer hostage on a regular basis. When I see the Windows 7 commercials I laugh, partly because they are funny and mostly because Windows NEEDS to work like that! So a computer that is easy and just works like the commercials would make my life (personally and professionally) so.much.easier.

  4. Hanging on the wall??? That’s awesome!

Between my church work and my photography work and 3 kids, I am constantly trying to use my laptop while keeping it safe from spilled milk, tears, falls, and various kid accidents. I would love to have it on the wall!

And no more Vista??? I hate Vista!

  6. Well, truth be told, I’m a PC lover living in a Mac household. I use WORD quite often and I’m much more proficient in the PC version, so that alone would bring me a few more minutes in a day. I do have a dinosaur PC in the house that would be nice to replace. Those towers are huge.

  7. I am typing this from a lenovo laptop! The reason I would like to win is because I’m starting to take my photography hobby to a new level, and I’m photographing more and more of my friends’ kids. HOWEVER, I fear for my little laptop’s ability to keep up with all of the photo storing, editing, and sorting that I do. I’d love a new computer to use for my photography stuff… perhaps someday (soon!?!) I’ll have enough clients and interest to be a “real” photographer?? I can hope!

  8. My Mum would love this. Her laptop is old and horrible and she would love a big beautiful screen…as well as the simplicity of it all as she has only a small desk and that is taken up with big books as she is working on school things this summer. I am glad to hear Windows 7 is pretty good…I am a mac girl myself so it is nice to know pc’s are coming along. :o)

  9. We’re headed into ANOTHER year of John in school and both of us working. The Lenovo would be a great reason for me to have NO excuses for keeping my blog up more often. We’re headed into trying to adopt or fostering to adopt, so having an updated blog is an important part of that process.

In other ‘how this would help my job” news… They’re moving me to third grade this year (have taught first for 6 years). This would be a huge asset to researching materials and new smartboard lessons to use to teach my students. I’m so nervous!

    So jealous, this looks amazing!

  10. I wish I had a space saver like this in my office/craft/knitting room. I’d hang it on the wall and be able to use my entire desk to craft as I read/watch online instructions. Some people close to me are trying to encourage me to put up some goodies on Etsy. I just lack the space to do so much more!

  11. I’d love to give this to my father. He’s got a PC so antiquated it can only get on the internet “accidentally” (true story: it won’t respond to having an ethernet cable OR to his password-protected wireless — it’ll only connect if it accidentally snags unprotected wireless somewhere). It’s his work computer so, technically, they should help him replace it, but the church where he works (he’s a pastor) is on a spending freeze, so they can keep ministries like the food bank afloat.

I’m realizing this sounds very Hallmark-y, and I don’t mean for it to. He’s just extremely hard working and extremely committed to doing the right thing for others – I’d love for him to have something that makes his life and work a tiny bit easier, and I’d love for him to have something that’s a pleasant surprise, a treat.

  13. Wow! This could definitely help my husband. He’s in school for nursing, & he’s currently using a 6 year old Mac. We love it, but it’s scary not knowing if it’ll last until he finishes school- in 3 years!

  14. I love your idea of putting it in the kitchen to hold all the recipes. That is definitely what I would do with this–put it on our little desktop in the kitchen (right now it’s too small for any computer). Then I would take some time and get all my recipes in one place on this baby. Better yet, whenever I need to look up a recipe on AllRecipes.com, I can leave it up on the screen rather than wasting paper printing it out or writing it down! It would be so eco-friendly!

  15. This would be great for my husband to use to teach his online classes (second job). Although he is looking at a Mac Book to replace our old laptop that is too slow to make teaching on line classes worth the money. If he goes with the Mac Book and we won the lenovo- I’d gladly put it to use for my family photos and our blog and the kids would play PBS kids on it and watch their net flix (we don’t have any “real” TV in the sticks where we live.

  16. Amazing! And I thought I had seen it all and my computer in my office is only about a year old, but here is where this computer would be a life saver for me!
Right now I’ll admit my husband and I have this issue with me being in the office on the other side of our house ALOT, due to the fact that I’m a blogger, I’m obsessive with checking analytics and I like scanning my twitter every so often (ok like every few minutes). But having something like this, I could hang it in my kitchen where the whole family hangs out near the family room and walking by to make a quick click to say “hello” to the world wide web, just may cut down on some recent tension about computer use in the house. Plus, he just might think it’s cool enough and we can share it :o)
Very cool computer and awesome giveaway!

  17. My husband just started a consulting business so this would totally help take the pressure off our three year old laptop. Then he could use that just for travel, and this computer would stay at the office. All sleek new and shiny? YES PLEASE!

  18. I’m a graphic designer who can’t design, and a new computer would make that possible. It would provide the missing income that my fiancé and I need to pay for our wedding, and to move out of our apartment and neighborhood that constantly depress us.

It would help me give new parents cute announcements to show off even the squishiest of newborns to the world, in style. A new computer would basically make my life a heck of a lot easier, and would help me bring more pretty into the world. Check it.

  19. I DO have a Mac(Book), and man, with as many photos and videos as I take on my travels (for work), it just can’t keep up. So I wish I had a computer that was a) faster, b) had a better database and c) could handle the amount of information I put into it! Vital for a travel journalist, I’d say!

  20. This is so exciting! My computer runs very, very hot, which I know is its way of saying, “Hello, I will be vacating your life in the near future.” Boo. This is very depressing. I’ve just graduated college and I use my computer regularly to update my resume, apply for jobs, keep in touch with references, etc. It’s a major asset in my life, and I have a ton of student loans to pay back so buying a new machine is toootally not in the cards. This would be a huge help in the Becoming a Big Girl department! (I mean, I guess if I’m calling it that, I’m still lightyears behind in adulthood… but ya know.)

No more sharing with teenagers on Facebook and having toddlers crying over my blogging shoulder to play on playhouse Disney. Go ahead, hit me with the win!

  22. Hey, if I got rid of my tower I could, I don’t know, have space to file things. Why I’d do that, I just don’t know…though maybe then I’d stop getting angry letters from people to whom I owe money. It’s a thought.

  24. I wish we had a computer that my husband could use. He is a writer and we have to share a computer, which leads to lots of arguments and late nights thanks to splitting time!

  25. It would help us tremendously because we are a Mac household, but my husband’s work is all PC based. And the only PC we have is a 10 year old laptop that, if you don’t hold the screen at EXACTLY the right angle, doesn’t display anything at all. The screen stays completely black.

And since my husband is a pediatrics resident, basically a new computer will save lives. Tiny, tiny lives.

Or you know, something a lot less dramatic.

  26. I have a computer with Vista on it (boo) Nothing works right! Grrrr AND I have to share it with my computer loving kids! They LOVE to push the off button and ruin all my projects whenever they can! If I had a new computer (with a tower with a nice bright glowing off button, floor level) I could give the older (vista- boo) to the kids for their school, games, homework, etc…. and have the Window’s 7 blessing for my self, my blog, vlogging, crafts, email, esty store etc…!!! LOVE IT!

  27. I could use this, since I am about to move out on my own for the first time! I have an ancient laptop that dictates her work hours on her own terms. My life would be so much easier if I could create worksheets/activities for my students without my computer deciding it is done for the day. There is nothing like a computer that shuts off whenever it wants, so please help me out!

  28. This is perfect. Not only do I LIKE computers, but I also NEED a new one!

Seriously, though, I have lots of reasons to need a new computer.

    1. I’m in school and I have to do buttloads of writing assignments. It would be helpful to be able to type on a keyboard with all its keys.

    2. I have a blog called “Jill can blog.” my blog name would be more truthful if I actually had a, you know, keyboard with all its keys.

    3. I love this computer’s ability to be mounted on the wall. Keeping computers far away from my children helps my things to stay nice and functioning. Did I mention my keyboard is missing keys?

    4. we live in a tiny apartment. We need to save all the space we can. My sister and I have a few business ideas we are working on so that we can stay home with our kids, and since all our business ideas are centered on the computer, it makes perfect sense to have a reliable, Space saving computer in our hands (I mean on our wall).

  29. Well, this would be fabulous because my husband’s super old laptop is about to die. I am using mine all the time at night for my photography business and that leaves him with nothing to do his work on. He has a Mac from school, but it doesn’t do all the other things he needs to do.
Plus, my computer is a desktop so this would be something we could take when we go visit the in-laws in the summer and then we both could continue to work (sharing, gasp!) while there rather than putting everything on hold for a month.

  31. Okay…here it is…one computer…three people sharing it. Doesn’t work!

My husband, my daughter and I really need our own computers so that we can be free to do whatever we like with our computer time! No more waiting until he or she gets done so that you can finally get a moments time on the thing!

Also, I like to complete photo projects at online photo services and enter sweepstakes (!). A faster computer would help tremendously maximize my time while at the computer!

  32. My daughter is a single Mom going back to college for her decree to teach elementary school, she will graduate at the end of the 2011 school year. She had a laptop that was stolen from her car last spring and now has to either come to our house or go to the library to do her assignments. I wanted to give her mine…but that was vetoed. I do wish we had a other computer to give her and make everyone’s life around here easier. Thanks for the opportunity!

  35. As a struggling graphics designer, a space saving computer like the Lenovo A70z would give me a nice boost in productivity and organization. Even though I do a lot of my work on the computer, I still prepare my ideas on paper, so keeping my desk spacious is a plus with an all-in-one. I wish my computer could work as hard as I do, because it gets a little poky from time to time. The Lenovo A70z looks like a solid performer, and I’d love to be fortunate enough to win.

  36. My mom and I are starting our own buisness{jewelry} and this space saving computer would come in handy because my desk top is old and ginourmous and it doesn’t work all that great, it is slow, works when it wants etc.
I could imagine all of the pictures, spreadsheets and contacts that we could keep up on with this beauty!
I am also a full time student getting my masters in nursing so this would be great for school work, I could put my books down and not have to worry about the big heavy thing on the side!
    Thank you for the opprotunity!

  37. Running a small computer repair business out of my apartment room definitely means that space is a necessity. Having these problems, I’ve switched all my repair machines to laptops in order to save not only on space, but on power consumption. The A70z would be a great addition(maybe even replacement) to my repair machines since it’s got the power of a desktop with what appears to be a power usage of only a high end laptop.
    Hope I win!

I’m definitely looking for a new computer in just that price range (or cheaper, or like free if I win!)
