I realize this probably needs a lot more explanation than what I have in the presentation above, but for those of you who where there? You’ll totally get what I’m talking about. For those of you who weren’t there?
Please! Ask me questions. I’ll do another post answering your questions to the best of my ability. Or just say “EXPLAIN EVERYTHING FOOL!” (although that could result in my crying in a corner…but I’ll do it!)
I guess I have to preface this by saying I’m not a teacher, I still really don’t have any idea what I’m doing but I can say that I love it. Also? I spent half the panel in tears because I love my mom and I love my camera and I love what it’s done for me. sob sob sob…
(It also didn’t help that just before it was my turn I noticed Karen. Which is pretty much like teaching a fitness class to Jillian Michaels, you know, if everyone loved and adored Jillian…)

Gosh – so true Casey. In 20 years you will regret not taking a photo. I just realized that this year and already have half a dozen awesome shots of me with the kids.
I so WISH I knew this when they were tiny tiny babies and I never stepped in front of the camera. Ugh.

I recognize many of those photos! In the past couple years, you have captured some of my best memories.
I had a dream last night that I had a big fancy camera and we were out at a beach bonfire party taking tons of pictures of strangers.
And somebody told me once, regarding taking pictures of yourself. She said: You’ll never look as young as you do today, so get over yourself and get in the picture.
That’s always stuck with me.
This presentation was awesome, I can’t even imagine what it was like to hear you give it.

You should post more photography tips! Make it a series or something. As though you’re not busy enough already 🙂 I love learning from other photographers!

What’s your most favoritest portrait lens? I’m retiring my old Canon (Canon FTW!) and getting new portrait glass at the some time. I currently have a 60mm, but I want to shoot a little closer to my subjects.

Oh how I wish I could have heard the presentation… we always learn so much more when hearing them in person. However, it is still awesome (and btw, I had no idea there were online ways to share them!) and very informative and fun.
A few things I’d love to know more about…
– The equipment you use – the reasoning behind why you chose what you have
– Slide 5 – what’s all that stuff mean? 🙂
– WHY does f22 make a sunburst?
– What’s Av?
– Any way you could demonstrate the difference sharpening makes? I think it’s an art to be learned, and anytime I fiddle with it, I don’t notice any difference.
PS – I love Mishi’s comment about photography. Definitely hits home.
PPS – I totally second the idea (request? hehe) of you giving mini-lessons or tips on here. Maybe a periodic thing or something. Because we all obviously love your style and can easily see that you’re a great teacher. 🙂

Okay, so I felt really dumb but I had to google lr, cs4 and tra so that I even knew what to ask. What is your favorite editing tool/software? I elements enough, I’ve heard a lot of talk bout piknik but don’t know if it will do what I want. How do I figure out what I want? The software issue is so overwhelming that I’ve just been using microsofts photo editor because i’m afraid to commit financially.
I also typed this one handed because it’s dollar ice cream cone day in my building!

I’ve love to hear more about lenses, reflectors, and Speedlites. Everything I read assumes I know at least something – which – not so much.
Also about processing RAW photos. I shoot RAW a lot, but I don’t know what to do post processing to take advantage of that.
And f22 = sunburst. What gives?
